I See Doors of Opportunity Where There Are No Doors

David Sherry at CIVIC ROOM

An exhibition of works by David Sherry pivoting on the pressure to perform in the knowledge economy, the contradictions defining success, and the disruptive effect of nonsense humour.

The artist takes inspiration from broadcast media frivolity and motivational speeches to produce a ‘comedic enterprise’ within Civic Room’s space, formerly a branch of the British Linen Bank, expired symbol of commercial transactions. The gallery’s invigilators have been given the futile endeavour of promoting his artworks,  through recourse to their most persuasive sales strategies.
